Documentary coming courtesy of W4F investigating the history of humanity’s attempts to reach Earth’s nearest neighbour. Only three years elapsed between the first lunar mission and the last, and more than 30 years have passed since man walked on the surface. The programme examines why travelling to the moon fell out of public favour, and considers the possibility of future exploration

Plot: Season 1 Episode 1-The Top Gear presenter celebrates next month’s 40th anniversary of the first manned moon landing, embarking on his own mission to learn about the heroes behind the historic event. Along the way, he experiences zero gravity under test conditions, endures the gravitational forces of a shuttle launch in a centrifuge chamber, and flies to the edge of space in a U-2 spy plane
